Reusing Water, the Women worker’s Way

Hazaribagh, CCL’s coal washeries, Jharkhand

Communities surrounding the CCL mines in Hazaribagh are forced to consume contaminated water from the coal washeries due to lack of any facility for water treatment outside the factory. Women are more susceptible to water pollution due to the role they play in the family, which involves contact with water for performing the household chores like collecting water, washing clothes utensils and bathing children. Women spend a large part of their time and energies in collecting good water for their family.
